Abstract

A variety of cystic lesions may develop in spinal canal. Among developmental malformations, neurenteric cysts are thought to arise due to a failure of the primitive endoderm from ectoderm separation. Neurenteric cysts are rare, and account for 0,3-1,3% of all spinal cord tumors. The authors report the case of a 38-year-old female presented with an 8-month history of low back pain. A lumbar magnetic resonance imaging showed a cystic intradural extramedullary located at level L1-L2. A total microsurgery excision was performed without complication. The histopathological and immunohistochemical assays confirmed the diagnosis of neurenteric cyst.
