Abstract

Three-dimensional (3D) anatomical models manufacture based on computer-aided designs and additive manufacturing has contributed to the substantial progress of the Neurosurgery, including Cerebrovascular Neurosurgery. Some authors have managed to build individualized models of complex vascular networks, such as arteriovenous malformations, to facilitate surgical planning, obtain better results, teach patients and residents and reduce surgical time and possible perioperative complications. Thus, additive manufacturing facilitates surgical simulation without causing harm to the patient. This study illustrates a clinical case in which this technology was used in the preoperative planning of an arteriovenous malformation.
